Coronavirus Cases Are Increasing With The Festive Period – Lagos State Expresses Concern

The Lagos state government has raised a big concern on the spread of the Coronavirus in various communities of the state which describes as a community transmission.
The State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi in a new report given noted that the cases are increasing more during the festive season as people are gathering though, not as high as it was between July and August.Please Adhere To COVID-19 Precautionary Measures - Akin Abayomi Urges LagosiansAccording to him, although the state has increased its testing ability to between 2000 to 3000 daily, a second wave of the pandemic is seemingly unavoidable due to general lack of compliance with the laid down protocols.
Akin Abayomi explained further that the virus transmission is , adding that the statistics of the virus in the state shows that 48% of the cases are mild with 35% in moderate condition and 16% severe while only 1% in critical condition.COVID-19: Stop Or Face Consequences - Lagos Tells Travellers Evading TestHe further disclosed that 10 oxygen camps are being built across the state out of which six are ready for use. The oxygen camps are permanent structures and can be used for other diseases besides Coronavirus. He added that 3,299 patients have so far been admitted in the State, 2,826 discharged and 236 deaths have been recorded.

He added that 63 evacuations made and 75 people are currently in isolation. Professor Abayomi added that the outbreak of the new variant of the virus has the capability to be more contagious while the government hopes to balance the public health response and economy so that people can live normally.
