Confusion Grips Rivers State As Police Retrieve Arms From Vigilante Groups

Rivers state was thrown into a frenzy yesterday, as the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, ordered the police to retrieve arms from all vigilante groups in the state.
Residents of the state, who have been plagued by numerous cult related attacks and robberies, were gripped by panic as policemen started the state-wide arms retrieval move.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Zaki, confirmed the new development by giving the vigilante members a 21-day ultimatum to surrender their arms or face prosecution.
In response to the new development, some vigilante groups on an indefinite strike to protest against the new order by the Inspector General of police. According to the police, the arms mop-up move will soon extend to other states in the country.
