Cinematographic Genius, Kunle Afolayan Is Our MCM

Famous actor, producer and director, Kunle Afolayan, is our Man Crush this Monday!

Kunle Afolayan is not only a famous filmmaker but also a CEO, award-winning actor, producer and director. Born to famous theatre and film director, Late Adeyemi “Ade Love” Afolayan, Kunle has film running through his veins. He is the brother to Gabriel, Moji and Aremu Afolayan, all actors. However, he didn’t start his professional acting career till 2005. Before then, he had received a degree in Economics and started work in a bank. In 1998, he made his debut in Tunde Kelani‘s film Saworoide, but went back to his bank job. In 2005, he quit his bank job and attended New York Film Academy where he got a proper filmmaking education.

Since then, Afolayan has been quite active in the Nigerian film scene as an actor, producer and director. In 2009, his critically acclaimed film, The Figurine, premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival and received 10 nominations and won five awards at the 6th Africa Movie Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Heart of Africa, Achievement in Cinematography and Achievement in Visual Effects. He has also received recognition for other notable works of his such as Phone Swap, The CEO and October 1.

And just 4 days ago he dropped another blockbuster for the screen that’s definitely going to have us talking for a while, with his new movie which is bound to get us talking once again with his unique storytelling skills that are unprecedented, The movie “Mokalik” tells a story of an 11-year-old boy Jaiye Ponmile, who had been performing badly at his studies, who spends the day as a lowly apprentice at a mechanic workshop in order to view life from the other side of the tracks his father which is played by Femi Adebayo decided to give his son a taste of life from another angle of life as he makes Ponmile Spend a day as an apprentice at A Mechanic {Mokalik} Shop, and after which he gets to decide what he wants out of life. The Movie Features Femi Adebayo, Charles Okocha, Faithia Williams, Lateef Oladimeji, and comic actors like Wale Akorede (Okunu), Ayo Ogunshina (Papa Lolo) and Dayo Akinpelu (Alabi Yellow) And Simi. 

One of the most notable thing about Kunle Afolayan is that when there are no stuntmen around or when no-one can deliver what he’s envisioned, he does it himself, no matter how dangerous.
