A host of grateful Mexicans fans hosted a light party for a South Korean ambassador on Wednesday evening, after South Korea’s 2-0 victory over Germany launched Mexico to the knockout stage of the tournament.


A couple of last minute goals from Young-Gwon Kim and Heung-Min Son turned out to be the defining edge for Mexico and Germany, as the Germans crashed out of the tournament, while mexico moved on to the round of 16 despite their shocking 3-0 loss to Sweden.

The final result sparked huge celebrations among the Mexican fans both home and abroad, as some locals in Mexico City mobbed the South Korean embassy and carried the Korean ambassador on their shoulders, while joyfully celebrating for his team’s efforts in helping Mexico into the knockout stage.
The elated ambassador rejoiced with the locals, raising his hands and waving around while the locals praised him and his country for their unexpected upset.
Mexican fans in Russia also expressed their gratitude to a South Korean they found around the stadium, as they threw him up into the air while celebrating him and his country.
