It was former Paris Saint-Germain striker, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting that opened the scoring when the striker punished the defensive error of 17-year-old substitute El Chadaille Bitshiabu to it in the back post.

The 17-year-old replaced Nordi Mukiele who also replaced injured defender, Marquinhos. He tried to begin play from the left-back position but put midfielder Marco Verrati under pressure and got robbed by Thomas Muller.

Muller passed the ball on to Leon Goretzka, who drew Gianluigi Donnarumma before rolling a pass to his left for Choupo-Moting to ensure Bayern progresses.

However, in the 52nd minute the Cameroonian opened the scoring from a Jamal Musiala pass to carefully placing the ball to the bottom right corner but was soon ruled out for an offside against Muller who interfered with the play.

The defence of German champions was called to action after goalkeeper Yann Sommer attempted dribbling out of his box with Moroccan Achraf Hakimi pressuring to make shakey Sommer play the ball into the path of Ferreira Vitinha, who immediately attempted a shot but was cleared off the line by Matthijs de Ligt.

Kylian Mbappe came close in the 14th minute when he opened scoring but the whistle had gone after he ran into goalie, Yann Sommer on the edge of the area.

Bayern Munich’s defensive wall made it the seventh clean sheet in eight matches in Europe denying a two-headed hydra attack by Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi at bay in both legs to deny PSG qualification the fifth time in seven years.
