South America’s richest man, billionaire Telecommunications magnate Carlos Slim has tested positive for COVID-19. Carlos Slim COVID-19

The 80-year-old Mexican telecommunications mogul has reported visited the National Institute of Nutrition for clinical analysis, monitoring and treatment in a preventative manner, his current health condition was announced by his son Carlos Slim Domit on Twitter.

He’s very well and has had a very favourable development after more than a week of minor symptoms,” Slim Domit said.

The announcement of Carlos Slim contracting the deadly COVID-19 virus is coming a just day after it was announced that the Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, 67 had also contracted the virus and tested positive for it.

Carlos Slim and his family’s conglomerate control Mexico’s largest telecoms provider America Movil, whose operations include mobile and fixed-line voice services, wireless and fixed-data services, internet access, and pay television.

Slim is the wealthiest man in Mexico and sits at No. 12 on the Forbes’ Richest List with a net worth estimated at US$59 billion.
