Brenton Tarrant: New Zealand Terrorist Set To Face Unprecedented Life Sentence Without Parole

The New Zealand mosque terrorist, Brenton Tarrant has been slammed with an unprecedented sentence that bars him from ever applying for release. He may, however, according to Legal experts dodge terror charges. Brenton who was charged with one initial count of murder over the mass shooting that killed 50 people in the southern city of Christchurch, is to face life in imprisonment. According to Legal experts, his crime was so heavy that he could face the heaviest sentence imposed by a judge in the South Pacific nation since the abolition of the death penalty in 1961. Brenton may however not face terror charges despite Prime Minister Jacinda Arden referring to it as an act of terrorism. The terrorism suppression act was only introduced after the 9/11 attack, so, it is plausible that the judges might shy away from using it. Photo Credit: Getty
