Breaking: The Federal High Court Has Nullified Senator Omo-Agege’s Suspension

The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the unlawful 90-legislative day suspension imposed on the embattled Delta Senator, Ovie Omo-Agege by the Nigerian Senate.
Sitting at the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday, the court decided that though the National Assembly has the authority to discipline its members, the reasons given by the Upper Chamber for Omo-Agege’s suspension was unconstitutional from all perspectives. The court also reminded the senate that a legislator could not be suspended for more than 14 days.
Senator was suspended on the 13th of April for standing against the electoral amendment bill that was orchestrated to frustrate President Buhari’s 2019 re-election bid. The senate later insisted that senator Omo-Agege must withdraw his lawsuit against the house before his suspension can be cancelled.
