Just In: President Robert Mugabe Regains Full Control Of Zimbabwe After Meet With ‘Coup’ Army Chief

President Robert Mugabe is still the leader and presiding over Zimbabwe. This development comes on the backdrop of photos and discussion with the country’s army and African politicians. Images emerged today of Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe under “house arrest” amid reports that he has refused to quit quietly as the country’s president. The ageing president, 93, is pictured surrounded by supporters and rivals during top-level talks aimed at giving him the chance to walk away from the job with his dignity intact. The images also show military chief General Constantino Chiwenga – the man behind the “coup” which has rocked the troubled African nation. Also pictured are Zimbabwean defence minister Dr Sydney Sekerayami and South African politicians Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and Bongani Bongo. Catholic priest Fidelis Mukonori was said to be at the meeting to act as  a mediator between the rival factions. However, notably missing from the photos was Mugabe’s hated wife Grace, 52, even though she reportedly spent the night at the £7.5m Blue Roof mansion in Harare.Photo Credit: Getty
