Brad Pitt Suing Estranged Wife, Angelina Jolie For Selling Her Share Of Their Winery To Russian Oligarch

Brad Pitt is suing Angelina Jolie for selling her share in the winery they bought as a couple to Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler.

The Fight Club actor has asked the court to reverse a business transaction conducted by his ex-wife involving Chateau Miraval in Correns, France, which they bought together in 2008.

In court documents, the 58-year-old star wants damages after she delivered her share to Stoli Group subsidiary Tenute del Mondo, which Shefler runs.

He said the couple first bought the estate for $28.4 million, and she laid down about 40% of the funding.

In the court documents, Pitt insisted he put more work and funding into the winery to ensure it made a profit, and he claimed by 2013 she hadn’t matched his efforts.Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

He added that they agreed not to sell off their interest in the business without the other party consenting to the sale.

The legal documents state: ‘The vineyard became Pitt’s passion – and a profitable one, as Miraval, under Pitt’s stewardship, has grown into a multimillion-dollar international success story and one of the world’s most highly regarded producers of rose wine.’

Jolie – who filed for divorce in 2016 – went to court last summer and told the judge she had an agreement to sell her interest.

By the September, Pitt had agreed to let her pursue the sale, but noted he wasn’t consenting to the actual transaction, rather letting her find a buyer who he could then approve or reject.

He said that the following month he discovery Tenute del Mondo – controlled by Shefler – had bought Jolie’s interest in the winery, alleging she didn’t seek his consent and kept the terms of the deal from him.

According to the lawsuit, Jolie sold her stake to a Luxembourg-based spirits manufacturer controlled by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler, without Pitt’s knowledge.

‘She sold her interest with the knowledge and intention that Shefler and his affiliates would seek to control the business to which Pitt had devoted himself and to undermine Pitt’s investment in Miraval,’ the lawsuit added

According to the documents, Pitt is looking to undo the transaction, while he also wants to be awarded damages.

In May 2021, Pitt was awarded joint custody of children Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and 13-year-old twins Vivenne and Knox, while the exes are also parents to Maddox, 20.
