Former Governor of Ogun State and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Olusegun Osoba, said during a recent interview that the National Leader of the APC Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has the right to contest for the Presidential position come 2023. “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as an individual has the right to put himself forward, we have not zeroed in on an individual. Zeroing in on any individual will destroy our efforts now but Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has a right to pursue his own agenda,” he said.

The former governor, Chief Osoba said this while on TV on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, where he said within the APC there’s a gentleman agreement amongst the Chieftains that the next President of the country will be from the South come 2023. Though he did note that the South-West must unite and put its affairs in order so as to achieve national success come 2023.

The APC chieftain did further note that though “there is so much noise from the East”, nobody has contacted him or other chieftains of the party to show interest in running for president in 2023.

“As an elder in the party, nobody from the South-East has contacted or consulted me to lobby, to even say they are interested,” Osoba stated.
