Bodies Of Dead Coronavirus Victims Won’t Be Released – Lai Mohammed

The Minister Of Information And Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said that the Government can not release the corpses of the persons who tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19), he clarified that the body is too dangerous and contagious to release to the families for burial. Lai Mohammed

Speaking at Forum in Abuja organized by the News Agency of Nigeria Today 3rd Of April 2020, Lai Mohammed said it was too dangerous to release such corpses back into the society so all the bodies of a dead victim would be handled by the Ministry Of Health.

“Coronavirus is very dangerous and contagious; there is no medicine for it yet and it is not just capable of killing, overwhelming healthcare system, it will destroy the economy. In some countries, they are putting dead bodies in big refrigerators, because the morgues have filled up. Nigerians should not forget that these are not the type of corpses that can be claimed for burial because it must be handled by the ministry of health,” he said.

The Minister also applauded Nigerians for abiding by the stay at home order, as the country try to curb the spread of the deadly Coronavirus. Nigeria currently has 190 cases of COVID-19 with 2 fatalities. 23 persons have been discharged from the Infectious disease hospital Lagos.
