British actor Daniel Kaluuya has won the EE Bafta Rising Star award, following in the footsteps of the likes of Kristen Stewart and Tom Holland. ‘Evening, London city, hello… I’ve gone blank, thank you,’ he began before going on a minutes-long ramble in which he thanked friends and family and then ‘broke all the rules’ by telling everyone the countdown had started.
‘Tessa, Tim, Josh and Florence, thanks to the people for voting for us all,’ he added. ‘I feel so privileged in be in your guys company, facts (sic).’ ‘I am the products of arts funding in the UK, and i’d like to thank people who financially support that,’ he said before joking that he was ‘breaking all the rules’ by telling the audience.
‘There’s a countdown, they said not to say that, I am breaking all the rules!’ he laughed.
Daniel’s role in Get Out last year catapulted him onto the world’s stage and earned him a 2018 Oscar nomination for Best Actor.
