Numerous movies both blockbusters and low budget were nominated for several categories of the award. While some movies come up top sweeping awards, others were utterly disappointed, losing in several categories.

The List of the biggest loser in the award includes;

1. Avatar: The Way of Water:- This is the second franchise of James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster, Avatar. The first installments set a record as one of the most successful movies in history. With a budget of about 350 million, Avatar: Way Of Water had a garnered whopping sales figure of over 2.3 billion dollars. 2. Top Gun Maverick:- Just like Avatar, Top Gun Maverick is a sequel to the 1986 superb movie starring Tom Cruise. With a budget of 15 million naira, Top Gun raked up over 350 million dollars in 1986. Fast forward to 2022, Top Gun Maverick was released also having Tom Cruise as the lead actor. The movie was well well-received by both audience and critics. With a budget of 170 million dollars, Top Gun Maverick made over 1.4 billion dollars. Despite being a massive box office success, it was only able to secure a single win in Oscar, Best in Sound.

3. Woman King:- With an exceptional storyline, wonderful costume, and superb performance from talented actress Viola Davis’, one would have thought Woman King would have earned a nomination if not a win at this year’s Oscar.  It was a great shock when the Oscar nomination came out and the movie was completely snubbed by the Oscar.

4. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever:- Black Panther is one of Marvel’s blockbuster superhero movies that center around a technologically advanced African country, hidden from the world. With a big budget, exceptional production design, and a motional soundtrack from Rihanna, Wakanda Forever was expected to shake down this year’s Oscar but the mighty giant only managed to win Best Costume all-night Design.
