Bernardo Silva Backs Sergio Aguero To Break Alan Shearers’ Goal Scoring Record

Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record could be broken by Sergio Aguero, according to one of the Manchester City striker’s team-mates – Bernado Silva.
Aguero netted his 148th Premier League goal during Man City’s 2-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, meaning he equals the league tally Shearer scored for boyhood club Newcastle United.

Having extended his deal with City until 2021, Aguero has every chance of catching Thierry Henry and Wayne Rooney, on 175 and 183 respectively. Shearer’s overall Premier League goal record of 260 may ultimately be out of reach, but Aguero’s City team-mate Bernardo Silva is in no doubt the forward is up there with the greatest strikers to grace the English game.

“I think he can reach it,” said City attacker and Portugal international Silva. “He’s got the potential. “Every season he keeps scoring more and more. We hope he can keep helping us win more titles in Manchester.” “Sergio is the best scorer in Manchester City’s history,” “He’s a legend, not only for Manchester City, but also for the Premier League. If he’s not the best striker in the world then he’s one of the best. Says Bernado Silva.

Aguero has scored 148 times in 213 Premier League appearances – giving him an strikerate of 0.69 goals per game – his Man City team-mate Bernardo Silva sees no reason why the Argentina international cannot eventually leapfrog Shearer and claim the record.
