MCM: Bayo Omoboriowo Is A Creative, Lovers Of Arts, And Star With The Lens

While Bayo Omoboriowo is a star in the world of photography and the arts generally, he, however, became a household name in Nigeria after he was selected to be President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief Official photographer. Born on the 13th of May, 1987, in Mushin, Bayo grew up in Lagos and bagged a degree in pure and applied chemistry from the University of Lagos. Bayo’s passion for photography led him to the world of photos as he became deeply immersed in picture taking, which he referred to as  ‘Reality Photography’.  Slowly and steadily the star rose with his art as he continued taking photos that he believed would tell the story of Nigeria one day when it’s needed the most. His passion for photography and storytelling drove him to his much-acclaimed work, the unsung Heroines which focused on exceptional people who are doing great in Nigeria.

This amazing project was featured on CNN and widely distributed amongst many. Bayo also focuses his lens on socio issues as his work ‘Red Gold’ looked at the advantages of the Nation investing in the palm oil production industry and the agricultural sector as a whole. Bayo is not just a creative, or a photographer, he is also a lover of humanity and a philanthropist as he engages in many different activities that involve giving back to the society through what he loves the most, photography! He established Photograher’s Collage, a platform that helps to ensure the progressive movement of the photography industry in Nigeria. He’s also the project co-ordinator for Photograph A Child, an annual project which uses photography as an approach to supporting the under-served around Lagos, Nigeria. To this, he has won several awards including the Sundance Institute Short-film challenge 2014, MTN Afrinolly Short-film Competition 2013 for his documentary, Future Awards Creative Artist of the Year 2012, National Climate Change Photo Contest 2012, and the AAF Etisalat Photography Competition 2012.
