Eric Abidal is back in Barcelona!

The Frenchman has been appointed as the Spanish club’s new technical secretary, replacing Robert Fernandez whom the Catalan side decided against renewing his contract. The 38-year-old will now work hand in hand with the club’s general manager, Pep Segura in the search for future players.

Abidal was a Barça player for six seasons, from 2007 to 2013, which he won LaLiga (4), Copa del Rey (2), UEFA Champions League (2) and more honours including UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Supercopa de España. Abidal will be expected to play a personable role in bringing Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona, which already have French players including Ousmane Dembélé, Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne.
