The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has insisted that the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Iyorcha Ayu, can’t lead the state to campaign for the 2023 elections.
Wike spoke at the 2022 Rivers State PDP campaign flag-off and unveiling of the party’s governorship candidate, Sim Fubara, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, on Saturday.
The governor said the people of Rivers State are hurt because of the injustice being meted out to the state.
“I repeat it that Ayu is very corrupt. A man that is corrupt cannot lead me and cannot lead my state to campaign,” Wike stated.
The ongoing crisis between the national chairman of the PDP , and the governor, started immediately after the party’s primary election.
The Rivers State governor, is accusing Ayu of being a corrupt umpire, after a video surfaced, showing Ayu calling Aminu Tambuwal the hero of the convention.
The PDP is taking a divided house into the February elections. Five PDP governors are clearly not in support of Atiku, mainly because of Ayu, and have vowed not to work for him at the polls next year.
