Arsenal striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that the entire Arsenal squad gave their manager, Arsene Wenger one last parting gift after his final match as the teams manager on Sunday.
The Gabon international scored the only goal of the match as Arsenal won 1-0 away at Huddersfield over the weekend.
Aubameyang had the honour of being both Wenger’s last signing and his last goalscorer. Though Wenger had already been treated to a farewell celebration at the Emirates stadium, the players were determined to give their legendary manager a fitting send off in the away team’s dressing room.
Speaking in an interview with Evening Standard Aubameyang said: “We made some applause [for Wenger]. We talked a lot already and we also wrote in a book for him. I thought he would be at Arsenal for years! ‘But this is life. This is football. Sometimes you never know. But I was happy to play for him. I learned a lot in not a lot of time to work with him. I am happy to be here.”
