Atiku, Tinubu, Others Set To Sign Peace Accord

Ahead of Saturday’s presidential election, presidential candidates of political parties on Wednesday converged in Abuja to sign a peace accord.

Those present at the event include All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Atiku Abubakar.

KOKO TV reports that the peace accord is voluntary and not mandatory for political parties to participate. However, it’s a mediation process that helps forestall electoral-related violence.

No fewer than 18 candidates are jostling to succeed the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), as president of Africa’s most populous country.

The NYSC, in a bid to reduce vote buying, and inducements earlier in the day, advised all their corps members deployed for the election, to reject any food items, during the whole process.

The NYSC DG said the security and welfare of the corps members have been taken care of.

“As you are aware, my priority since I assumed duty is the issue of security and welfare. The welfare of the corps members as well was presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and it promised to take care of it,” he said.

“Not only their security but wherever they will be taken to – right from where they will sleep before being taken to their respective places of duty.
