2023: Atiku Appoints Saraki, Others As Special Advisers

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has named former Presidents of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and Anyim Pius, as well as a former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, as special advisers to his campaign council.

Saraki is to serve as special envoy to the presidential candidate and Anyim as a special adviser.

A statement signed by Atiku’s media adviser, Mr Paul Ibe, on Monday, stated that Shekarau is also to serve as a special adviser just as former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and Senator Ehigie Uzamere.

It further stated that former PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, was also appointed as technical adviser to the presidential candidate.

The former vice-president charged the appointees to employ their vast experiences to attain victory for the party in the 2023 general elections, saying the appointments are to take immediate effect.

The PDP is facing a divided house, ahead of the election. The southern governors are protesting the fact that, virtually all the juicy positions in the party are being occupied by their Northern counterparts.

Saraki was the director general of the Atiku campaign in 2019, but the former Kwara State Governor will play a less important role in this election cycle.
