Bologna and Arsenal are nearing completion of a deal for defender Riccardo Calafiori, who is anticipated to have a physical in the next few days.

The 22-year-old is set to join up with Arsenal in the United States as their pre-season tour continues with games against Manchester United and Liverpool over the next week.

Sources have stated that Arsenal will pay in the region of €50 million ($64m) for Calafiori with a significant chunk of that amount due to his former club Basel, who negotiated a sell-on fee when allowing him to move in the summer of 2023.

Calafiori is an Italian international who can play both left and center defense. He played in each of Italy’s three Euro 2024 group stage matches, and he is expected to join Arsenal as their first summer recruit after extending David Raya’s loan to Brentford for a total of £30 million ($38 million).
