Every 15th January is a day to remember and reminisce in the history of Nigerian Defence as it is the #ArmedForcesRemembranceDay, and today, Nigerians have made it a point of duty to celebrate the heroes who are fallen and those who are still standing gallant.
Wreath-laying ceremonies are expected to hold in states across the country as well as in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where President Muhammadu Buhari and other top officials are expected to be in attendance, paying tributes and honouring the force.
Nigerians, however, in their number, have taken to social media to pay their tributes – many whose loved ones have fallen, wives and husbands who have missed the loving intimacy of their husbands, children, even babies who have not felt the smelt and presence of their fathers in months, aged parents who have not had their hands in those of their sons and daughters, and many more.

For all that they had done and continue to do in defence of our lives and territorial integrity, on this #ArmedForcesRemembranceDay, we have every reason to #ThankASoldier. May the souls of our fallen heroes continue to rest in peace.

We thank you all for your service — and pray that Almighty Allah will continue to guide and protect you.#ArmedForcesRemembranceDay pic.twitter.com/C3iCL8jw3l

“… them governments that send the boys to war
Claim it’s a fracture
When it’s just a little sore
He picks up his bag, says to his wife
“ I’ll be back my dear “
But even he knows it’s another life.
He’s gone for good ”#ArmedForcesRemembranceDay✊? pic.twitter.com/MmSF6JoZEC— T.E.S.L.I.M (@VectorThaViper) January 15, 2021
