Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby Archie was born at London’s Portland Hospital, his birth certificate has revealed.
The family had always hoped for a home birth at Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate. The arrival of the newborn was shrouded in mystery as neither Buckingham Palace nor his parents gave any details.
But the official birth certificate of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor has now been released by the royal household, confirming the Duchess of Sussex gave birth in hospital. His father, Prince Harry, officially registered the birth today with the City of Westminster registry office.
Archie was born at 05:26 on Monday 6th May, weighing 7lbs 3oz. He is seventh in line to the British throne. His parents have said they want him to have a normal life and so he was not given a royal title.
The birth certificate lists the full names of both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Meghan is referred to by her birth name Rachel Meghan and gives her profession as Princess of the United Kingdom. Harry is known by his full name and title His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex and his occupation is listed as Prince.
The Portland hospital is a luxury medical facility in central London, where births cost a minimum of £15,000. Other famous mums who have given birth at the American-owned Portland include Victoria Beckham and Jools Oliver. Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, gave birth to Princess Beatrice and Princess Beatrice there.
