According to Punch, the driver, who was driving a school bus conveying some pupils of Eucharistic Heart of Jesus School, Isolo, was detained alongside the pupils for not using his seat belt.

The LASTMA officers allegedly seized the steering of the school bus before driving the vehicle to the LASTMA yard at Isolo.
The pupils in the vehicle were detained for over 3 hours by the LASTMA officers, before they were eventually released after their parents found out about the situation.

A parent of one of the victimized children, Mr Ikem Okuhu, said the encounter traumatised his children. In a petition to the Lagos State Ministry of Transport, Mr. Ikem said his children were released after his wife visited the LASTMA yard. He also noted that the LASTMA officers insulted his wife and asked her to go to court if she felt her children were ill-treated.
