There are surprise reports coming out of Italy that Antonio Conte is set to leave Inter Milan within the next few days – developments which are likely to interest Tottenham.
The former Chelsea boss guided his side to the Serie A title this season, and it was widely expected that he would stay in charge for at least one more campaign.

But despite their success Inter are in serious financial trouble, and could be forced to sell a number of their key players and offer wage reductions over the course of this summer.
Conte was alleged to have been furious when he was told this by the president Steven Zhang last week. And according to Italian outlets, he is now attempting to arrange the details of his contract termination, which could cost around £5.2m.
If he does end up departing the San Siro Conte could well become a strong contender for the Spurs job. The club appear no nearer to appointing Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor despite a whole host of top names being linked.

And it is believed their chairman Daniel Levy is desperate to appoint a big name to appease the Spurs fans, who are furious with their disappointing 2020-21 campaign and the club’s involvement in the failed European Super League.
Conte would certainly tick a number of boxes with regards to his winning pedigree and Premier League experience. And although he has links with Spurs’ bitter rivals Chelsea, this did not stop Levy appointing both Andre Villas-Boas and Mourinho in the past.
It remains to be seen whether Conte would fancy the challenge of lifting Spurs from their current slumber, however, and he is not likely to be short of potential suitors in the coming weeks.
The first signs of discontent from Conte at Inter came a few days ago when he somewhat arrogantly dedicated their title win to himself.
“I dedicate it [the Scudetto] to myself,” he said. “Because I know that in any case it has not been an easy path in these two years. I really had to get everything out of myself. There have also been times when I have doubted things and doubted myself, but we have been strong enough to go beyond everything. We have all been good, even me. I think it was the right end to an extraordinary year. Even today we played a beautiful game, we didn’t leave anything behind. We have collected 91 points, scored more than 90 goals. The best defence, the second-best attack, it means having done something beautiful and important.”
