Anthony Joshua Wants To Fight The Winner Of Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder Next

Anthony Joshua says he wants to fight the winner of Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury in his next fight – adamant he has the skills to beat both men.

After a shock defeat in New York in June, Joshua reclaimed the IBF, WBA (Super) and WBO heavyweight titles after outpointing Andy Ruiz in Saudi Arabia on Saturday. The Briton now holds three of the four major world titles on offer at heavyweight, with Wilder the current WBC champion – a title he has held since January 2015.

The American is set to put the belt on the line against Fury for a second time in February – with Joshua ready to take on whoever comes out on top. Speaking to Good Morning Britain live from Saudi Arabia, Joshua said: “I would love to make that my next fight. I’m taking it one step at a time. Whenever they are ready they know where to find us. I’m not a running champion, I’m someone who will fight the best in the world. Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury are those guys. I’d love the opportunity to beat Wilder or Fury.”

Joshua, who had won 21 of his 22 professional fights by KO before Saturday, switched tactics against Ruiz, fighting behind his jab and utilising clever movement to seal a comprehensive points against a man who gave him so much trouble in close exchanges last summer.

And the 2012 Olympian believes that performances proves he is capable of breaking down Wilder and Fury – however the fight unfolds. “You can see I’d beat them. I’ve displayed different styles of fighting. Sometimes inside fighting, sometimes knockout fighting and sometimes a boxing man’s fight. So I feel like I have their number because I can display a variety of skills when it comes to boxing.”
