Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Rematch In Serious ‘Problems’, Claims Oscar De La Hoya

Anthony Joshua is having trouble coming to terms with Andy Ruiz for their highly-anticipated rematch, according to Oscar De La Hoya.

The Golden Boy promoter cast doubt over Joshua vs Ruiz 2 on social media after Eddie Hearn said he expected Canelo Alvarez to take on Sergey Kovalev next. Fight fans want Alvarez to fight Gennady Golovkin again and De La Hoya told Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, to mind his own business.

‘Eddie Hearn let me worry about Canelo and his next opponent, which doesn’t involve you,’ De La Hoya said.

‘You worry about securing the rematch for Joshua with Ruiz for DAZN. Which I hear you are having problems with.’ Hearn immediate hit back at De La Hoya, saying: ‘Friendly bet…my fight gets made before yours.’

Joshua activated his rematch clause with Ruiz just days after suffering a shock defeat to the Mexican at Madison Square Garden in May. The dethroned champion appears determined to seek immediate revenge and Hearn revealed last week Joshua was due to make a decision on the venue.

‘I think it’s between the UK and MSG,’ Hearn said.

‘If he [Joshua] beats Andy Ruiz away Madison Square Garden, he becomes an over night sensation. I spoke to him [Joshua] and said ‘you’re going to have a very difficult decision to make in the next 48 hours. Because I’m going to lay it all on a bit of paper for you, and I’m going to say what do you want to do’. As always, Anthony will decide.’Photo Credit: Getty
