‘Eddie Hearn let me worry about Canelo and his next opponent, which doesn’t involve you,’ De La Hoya said.

Joshua activated his rematch clause with Ruiz just days after suffering a shock defeat to the Mexican at Madison Square Garden in May. The dethroned champion appears determined to seek immediate revenge and Hearn revealed last week Joshua was due to make a decision on the venue.

‘If he [Joshua] beats Andy Ruiz away Madison Square Garden, he becomes an over night sensation. I spoke to him [Joshua] and said ‘you’re going to have a very difficult decision to make in the next 48 hours. Because I’m going to lay it all on a bit of paper for you, and I’m going to say what do you want to do’. As always, Anthony will decide.’Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Rematch In Serious ‘Problems’, Claims Oscar De La Hoya 4Photo Credit: Getty
