Anthony Joshua Is The Best Heavyweight…He’s Better Deontay Wilder and Fury – Mike Tyson

Nigeria’s Anthony Joshua has been hailed as the best heavyweight on the planet – according to a man who many consider to be the greatest boxer of all time.Mike Tyson struck fear in the heavyweight division in the 1980s and 90s, famed for his brutal KO finishes. But the 52-year-old believes there is only one man who is on that pedestal now, and it is the reigning WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO champ Joshua.Tyson said: “Right now, Anthony Joshua seems to be the best out of the whole lot of them. He’s the stronger guy, bigger guy, more put together, more put together as far as boxing skills are concerned as well. I think he’s the best fighter out of the lot.” AJ will defend his titles against Alexander Povetkin on September 22 – a fight he will again go into as huge favourite. The other heavyweight world champ, WBC title-holder American Deontay Wilder, is set to fight comeback kid Tyson Fury before the year is out. And while many believe these fights will result in an AJ versus Wilder unification blockbuster, another former world champ believes it’s far from cut and dried. Shannon Briggs, who won the WBA world title back in 2006 when he knocked out Siarhei Liakhovich in the 12th round, believes AJ is in for a “war” when he fights Povetkin.Anthony JoshuaThe 46-year-old said: “He’s in a tough fight coming up with Povetkin. It’s a 50/50 fight. Trust me, it’s going to be a war, if he can get past Joshua’s jab, if he can get inside and make it a fight. He’s very good at punching off the break, he’s very good at springing forward, this guy Povetkin. Very fast at springing forward. When it breaks he can get at you quick. If he can get inside of Joshua it’s going to be a problem.”Photo Credit: Getty
