Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has hit back at critics who have blasted her for turning a blind eye to ‘animal cruelty’ after she rode an elephant in Bali. The 38-year-old was pictured riding the animal during a family visit to an elephant sanctuary in Sumatra.
She’s been accused of being irresponsible and promoting the mistreatment of animals in captivity – although there is no evidence the sanctuary she visited has committed any wrongdoing. Responding to the criticism on Twitter, she wrote : “We visited an elephant sanctuary that has rescued these elephants from Sumatra where they would have otherwise gone extinct. It is an organization that is working to save these beautiful animals. We did full research before going.”
The reality star looked a little nervous as she straddled her elephant in a bronze bikini while her family watched. Back on firm ground, she seemed much more at home as she rested her foot on a bench beside her daughter North.
