Andy Ruiz Jr: Anthony Joshua Should Take A Break From Boxing If I Beat Him Again

Andy Ruiz Jr thinks Anthony Joshua should take a break from fighting after their rematch in December.

Joshua and Ruiz Jr go to war again later this year, with the British heavyweight gunning for revenge after his shock defeat to the new unified champion last June.

Ruiz Jr is aiming to solidify his position as an elite heavyweight by beating Joshua a second time and thinks his rival should recharge his batteries after their showdown in December.

‘I think he should take a little break if I beat him,’ Ruiz Jr said. ‘Let him recuperate, but one or two losses are not going to make a difference. He’s still a warrior, he’s still a great fighter, and I’m sure he’ll bounce back.’

Joshua’s defeat to Ruiz Jr during the summer has completely derailed his bid to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Lose to Ruiz Jr a second time and AJ will have a long road back to challenging the likes of British rival Tyson Fury and WBC champion Deontay Wilder. ‘It means a lot,’ Ruiz Jr said about Joshua naming him the No.1 heavyweight ahead of Wilder.

‘He said that because I defeated him. He was the greatest heavyweight champion of the world. He had all the belts and now I do, so it’s a big blessing to be in this position.’
