Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is an annual accolade presented by MultiChoice recognizing outstanding achievement in television and film and this year was a banger.
African celebrities, Nigerian celebs, especially rolled out the fashion carpet and they showed us what they are made of. The AMVCA for this year was an 8-day event that had celebrities dishing out fashion inspiration every day. The one that caught the attention of everyone was the grand finale, which was the awards night itself. Actress Osas Ighodaro who bagged the award for best actress in the movie Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story also emerged as the best dressed female celebrity and she took yet another award home. Looking at the dress she wore, oozed finesse and class effortlessly.

Trust people like Toyin Lawani to make a fashion statement with her dress as she stepped out on the red carpet with an outfit that had a horn. Lawani is drama in person.
Another person who gave us another side of fashion was BBNaija Ifu Ennada with her mask-filled black dress. The unique thing about the 8th edition of the AMVCA was that Nigerian celebrities showed that they have grown when it comes to the fashion and style department.

Their various outfits prove that the ‘red carpet’ in Nigeria has gone beyond a lovely gown, to a gown that speaks on its own. Looking at the fashion of the AMVCA grand finale, we can say that they brought the Met Gala to Africa.
While it wasn’t only Nigerian celebrities on the red carpet, South African princess Bonang Matheba who was also a big part of the event, dropped jaws with her amazing outfits. We had celebs changing outfits back to back and it speaks of commendable fashion growth.
For instance, the outfits of Mercy Aigbe, Juliet Ibrahim, Bimbo Ademoye, Nancy Isime, Funke Akindele, Denola Grey, Uti Nwachukwu, Timini Egbuson the list is endless as everyone slayed in ace, was on point. The AMVCA has raised the fashion bar in Africa as a whole and it is worth commending.
