Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata, has been left out of Spain’s 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup tournament in Spain.
Ironically, former Chelsea striker, Diego Costa, made the list, despite the fact that he was not active for the greater half of the season.
Morata was axed from the team due to his woeful performance with Chelsea in the 2017/18 season. Speaking on Morata’s exclusion from the list, Spain’s head coach, Julen Lopetegui said: “The decision is always difficult because of the talent of the players we have. We have opted for three other players who had different assets and including four players up front was not something we wanted to do.”
Morata and two other Chelsea players, Cesc Fabregas and Marcos Alonso.
