AFCON U-20: Flying Eagles Clinch Third After Beating Tunisia

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have beaten the Young Carthage Eagles of Tunisia 4-0 on Friday to claim the bronze medal at the ongoing Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The third-place tie took place at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt with the flying Eagles going ahead in the ninth minute with a goal from Ibrahim Muhammad.

In the 46th minute, Ahmed Abdullahi increased Nigeria’s tally with a beautifully finished goal to make it 2-0.

Jude Sunday increased the lead for the flying Eagles few minutes into he start of the second half and increased the advantage in the 90th minute to make it his second of the game.

Sunday drove past the Tunisian players to slot it into the back post with a powerful attempt fom the edge of the area to earn him the second in the third place tie.

Despite the the Tunisians having most of the ball with a 54 per cent against Nigeria’s 46 per cent, it was the Eagles that were soaring.

Nigeria, Tunisia, finalists Senegal and The Gambia, will represent Africa at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup scheduled to hold in Indonesia from May 20 to June 11.

Senegal will take on The Gambia in the final match of the competition on Saturday at the Cairo International Stadium.
