Actress Scarlett Johansson Calls Out James Franco In Women’s March Speech

Actress Scarlett Johansson has appeared to call out fellow actor James Franco for claiming to support victims of sexual assault while facing allegations of misconduct himself. The Avengers actress said she had felt “rage” over the women taken advantage of in sexual assaults during a Time’s Up rally for women’s rights. While not naming James Franco directly, the actress and mother told the crowd: “My mind baffles – how could a person publicly stand by an organisation that helps to provide support for victims of sexual assault while privately preying people who have no power. I want my pin back by the way.”It comes after James Franco stepped on stage wearing a Time’s Up pin while being honoured as Best Actor during the Golden Globes. James has been accused of taking the genital guards off actresses during an orgy scene as five women made sex misconduct claims against him – which his lawyer strongly denies. During Johansson’s speech, she said she had wanted to speak out after the stories of other women resonated with herself. She said: “‘Suddenly I was 19 again and I began to remember all the men who had taken advantage of the fact that I was a young woman who didn’t yet have the tools to say no, or understand the value of my own self-worth. I had many relationships both personal and professional where the power dynamic was so off that I had to create a narrative that I was the cool girl who could hang in and hang out, and that sometimes meant compromising what felt right for me.”Photo Credit: Getty
