Accreditation, Voting Commences In Gombe

A large turnout of voters has been recorded in polling units as gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections set to hold today in Gombe State.

Gombe residents have trooped out en-masse in the metropolis and environs to exercise their civic right by voting their choice of candidates in today’s polls.

Some voters who spoke to pressmen said they were satisified with the voting process, revealing that elections materials arrived early and they had been waiting patiently to cast their vote.

Mr Nafiu Ibrahim, Presiding Officer at Doma Area court 003, has said they arrived at the polling units around 7:46 a.m and settled before accreditation and voting simultaneously.

Presiding Officer of the Gidan Magabi 030 polling unit, Emmanuella Job, said they commenced voting at 8:11 a.m and so far, no hitches have been recorded.

Also, Kofar Sarkin Dukku Poling unit, Presiding Officer, Amarachi Emelobe, said the election began at 8:08 a.m. and everything was going smoothly; voters were patiently formed a queue, waiting for their turn to cast their ballots.

Also reports that the turnout at the governorship election was higher than the Presidential and NASS elections.

Similarly, the presence of security personnel was visible as movement of vehicles was restricted except those on election duty.
