Abramovich Turns Down Jim Ratcliffe’s £2bn Offer For Chelsea

The richest man in Britain, Jim Ratcliffe, has approached Russian oil magnate, Roman Abramovich to discuss the possibility of buying Chelsea Football Club after Abramovich’s stay in Britain was thrown into doubt.
Jim Ratcliffe, 65, owner of petrochemicals giant Ineos, is understood to have offered about £2bn for the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Ratcliffe’s move is coming few days after Abramovich halted the stadium renovation plans after he was evicted from Britain.
Abramovich has been struggling to renew his UK visa in the wake of Theresa May’s crackdown on rich Russians living in Britain after the poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury. In his response, Abramovich turned down the offer.
