The Code of Conduct Tribunal today cleared the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, of false asset declaration charges, brought against him in September 2015. Mr. Saraki was slammed with a 13-count charge by the federal government, shortly after his emergence as Senate president.
Danladi Umar, chairman of the tribunal, held that the prosecution did not prove its case against the accused person. He said the testimonies of four witnesses presented by the prosecution were discredited, and as a result were unreliable.
