The world, as you may know, would never be the same after this deadly novel “Coronavirus {COVID-19} pandemic”, on the optimistic side if we do actually survive its ravaging effects just know deep down in your soul things would never remain the same again. Just to highlight a few socio-economic issues that would forever be affected or rather said has already been affected.
In a country like Nigeria where social distancing might prove difficult to cope with, with the latest guideline giving by President Muhammadu Buhari to ease the lockdown in states like Lagos, Abuja and Ogun due to the economic effects the lockdown has had on the country. This article bids to prepare the mind of Nigerians the grim truth they are set to be faced with on their resumption to work. Be prepared brethren and sisters the country Nigeria has you may know is faced with difficult times, that if the country isn’t already in a recession.

- Child Birth: The Ministry for Child and Women affairs should have a plan in place, for the foreseeable future for a population boom, with increased childbirth and maternity rate between November, December and January 2021.
- Downsizing/lay-off: A lot of firms in between the last 3 months have been on a downward spiral, closing up shop and not making enough revenue especially considering the last 8 weeks. With the country economy set to take up to a month and a half before the economy of the country can be completely kick-started or back at full throttle some people need to know they would suffer more and might lose their jobs.
- The high rate of Unemployment: Even before the Coronavirus ravaging effect and the lockdown put in place, across the country Nigeria was already fighting inflation and high rate of unemployment one of the reasons why the country is still battling the Boko Haram insurgency, the Fulani Herdsmen, Kidnapping and armed bandits destroying and disturbing the countryside ravaging farms. The Nigerian government needs to prepare for this and have a cushion effect plan for the teeming youths that might be faced with an increased rate of unemployment.
- Business Folding up: Government needs to create soft loan avenues for SMEs to help them get back on their feet because a lot of them are currently in a deep mess. Loan debts, salary overdue, scarcity of raw materials, materials purchased before the lockdown going bad and need to restock. This is all a possibility the government must take into consideration and prepare for to help reboot the economy.
Socio-Economic Issues - Lots Of Loan Debts: Lots of SMEs and even large scale Firms are in this quagmire and needs support, just like I pointed out in the previous point firms without or not good enough insurance policies are in trouble and need to be supported.
- Increase In Divorce: Yes! this might sound inconsequential but the Nigerian socio-political system needs to prepare for the high rate of divorce within the next 6 to 12months, as couples who might have been suffering from some sort of issues in the past would now have such issues come to the front-burner with different couples finding out more about themselves and what they can’t cope with or can no longer tolerate and decide to call it a quit.
