The viral video of the man hitting his son and talking to him about his integrity and future has stirred a lot of controversies, taking tweeps back the memory lane of some scolding moments with their parents.
Their testimonies, however, got Kemi Lala Akindoju ruminating, noting that people usually don’t turn out simply because of how their parents raised them. She gave an instance of two children raised under the same values but with different attitudes and life style.

She then gave an opinion that the current generation of parents need to devise better means of raising their own kids, as those the parents used has left many people battling with emotional connections. She added that though, there is no manual on how to raise kids better but yet, parents should rather study and understand each child and relate accordingly, in the stead of a for a one-size fits all formula. Read her opinion below:
Reading tweets about how most of our parents raised us & how proud we are of how we turned out- actually we didn’t turn out as well as we think. When we have conversations with our age mates from other parts of the world,we have to admit that we need to raise our kids differently and this doesn’t mean spoiling our children and not instilling discipline. It is from things as basic as taking time to understand the personality and temperament of each child, instead of using a one size fits all formula. Some of us are so traumatized we think verbal and physical abuse is normal. Some of us have had to re-develop our self esteem because of the the way our parents raised us. Some of us don’t even know how damaged we are.

Some can’t have proper emotional connections because of this. There’s really no manual on raising children and I think it is a street with many contributors- the parents, the child, the school, and God who gave the child. Sometimes 2 children from the same home turn out different even when raised under the same values. I don’t have children yet, so I am not an authority on this but I know that many of us didn’t turn out as well as we think because of how our parents raised. Most of us are just learning to be whole beings in our adult life. Spread some love today“, Kemi Lala Akindoju tweeted.21k USD: Kemi Lala Akindoju Dishes Out Advise On Parenting
