House Of Reps Calls For Immediate Evacuation Of Nigerians In Ukraine

The House of Representatives has called for the immediate evacuation of Nigerians in Ukraine. This comes a few hours after the Nigerian embassy in Ukraine asked Nigerians residing in Ukraine to remain calm and be responsible for their personal security amid the Russian invasion.

The Nigerian embassy in Kiev, in a statement on Thursday, asked Nigerian nationals who want to temporarily relocate from Ukraine to ensure they validate their resident documents for ease of return. A house of representative member Ahmed Munir during the plenary on Thursday moved the notion that Nigerian students be evacuated immediately as they may be caught in the crossfire.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, agreed with a lawmaker, Leke Abejide, to interact with the Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema to evacuate Nigerians from Ukraine by Monday, February 28.
