Bariga LCDA Launches 2027 Budget Consultations to Foster Community Engagement
Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has initiated consultations for the 2027 budget, emphasizing participatory governance and sustainable development.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that Bariga LCDA has commenced its 2027 budget consultations to involve residents and stakeholders in recognizing community needs and establishing development priorities for the upcoming fiscal year. This initiative aims to ensure that the budget reflects the aspirations and challenges of the local population.
The LCDA Chairman, Mrs Bukola Adedeji, highlighted the importance of participatory governance during the Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum held at the council’s secretariat in Lagos on Tuesday. She emphasized that sustainable development requires active community involvement in decision-making processes.
The forum, themed ‘Budget for Sustainable Governance,’ provided an opportunity for stakeholders to identify pressing community challenges and recommend practical solutions. Adedeji noted that the annual consultation would allow the council to listen to residents, understand their priorities, and incorporate their needs into the budgeting,
Adedeji stated that the government would also report on projects and programmes implemented based on demands from previous consultations. While not all requests could be accommodated, the administration has continued to provide feedback on implementation and gather new priorities for future budgets. This approach underscores the LCDA’s承诺向
Adedeji stressed that government cannot develop Bariga alone, and that development without community involvement would fail the people. This gathering represents a conscious effort to embed participatory governance, ensuring that the LCDA listens first and collaborates with the community in planning, rather than merely acting on their behalf.
