According to Channels Television, Nigeria’s Flamingos, the U-17 Women’s team, have a storied history on the continent but struggled on the global stage until a dramatic 2022 win over Germany. Now, they are back in Morocco for the World Cup, aiming to build on their recent regional success.

The Flamingos dominated the WAFU B U-17 tournament, winning all five matches and scoring 17 goals while conceding just once. This performance has been a key factor in their preparation for the World Cup, which they entered on October 7.

The team has been undergoing intensive training in Morocco to adapt to the local conditions and refine their tactics. Coach Akeem Busari is focused on maintaining the team’s flexibility and unity, which he believes are essential for success in the tournament.

Nigeria’s draw in Group B includes Poland, Puerto Rico, and Korea DPR, making it a challenging but achievable path. The team’s experience from the U-20 Women’s World Cup and the presence of key players like captain Harmony Chidi and goalkeeper Jane Ijirigho add to their prospects

The Flamingos will face their first group match against Poland, with the goal of advancing from Group B and continuing their quest for glory in the U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. Their performance will be closely watched as they aim to build on their recent regional success.
