98% of The People Want To See Me Fight Anthony Joshua – Tyson Fury

WBC champion Tyson Fury aimed a shot at Deontay Wilder after backing his promoter’s warning to Anthony Joshua over their proposed unification clash.

Fury is waiting for a rescheduled date to be agreed with Wilder after their original summer fight was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Late December is now being targeted in the hope a crowd will be able to attend the trilogy fight and Fury appears to be growing restless.

He said on Twitter: ‘Deontay Wilder where you at mush? The clock is ticking! I’m not going to wait forever. There is other bums in the division that I want to eat for breakfast.’

Fury plans to fight Joshua twice in 2021, but there have been a few stumbling blocks after initial terms were agreed between the heavyweights. One big issue is Dillian Whyte, who is the mandatory challenger to Fury’s WBC title and has waited 1000 days for a shot at the champion.

The winner of Fury v Wilder 3 has been ordered to fight Whyte by February 2021, but Frank Warren has insisted his heavyweight will do no such thing.

Fury has backed his promoter’s message, which was: ‘Some of the comments from the other side have been all AJ is interested in is fighting for the WBC belt.

‘Well if that’s the case, let’s get it done. If Tyson is to vacate the title, they’re saying they’ll fight Whyte instead.

‘That’s all you need to know. You know what my theory is on this. I’ve said it all along, they do not want that fight under any circumstances.

‘Let’s talk about Sky subscribers, what fight do they want to see? What fight do the general public want to see? Why don’t they put it up with BT Sport: Who do you want AJ to fight – Dillian Whyte or Tyson Fury?

‘Who do you want to see? Ninety eight per cent of the people will want to see Fury and Joshua. Under those circumstances, listen to your subscribers. It’s not even about belts now. It would be great to have all the belts on the line. It would be brilliant for two Brits to fight for the four belts.

‘But if there’s all these complications then just let them fight. No one is buying a ticket to watch a belt. They’re buying a ticket to see the two Brits fight each other. They want to buy a ticket to see Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua.’
