8 Things They Did Right In ‘Blood Sisters’

Netflix’s first original Nigerian series which is Mo Abudu’s much-praised and talked-about movie, Blood Sisters is not breaking records because they have a good publicity team, the content, packaging, in fact, the entire production is lit.

This amazing movie starred an ensemble of Nollywood stars which include Nancy Isime, Kate Henshaw, Uche Jumbo, Deyemi Okanlawon, Ini Dima-Okojie, Toke Makinwa, Daniel Etim-Efiong, Gabriel Afolayan, Kehinde Bankole, Wale Ojo, Segun Arinze, Joke Silva, Toyin Abraham, Ramsey Nuoah, etc. Centering around two friends Kemi and Sarah who are as close as sisters and would do anything to ensure they both survive and come out of the horrible situation they have found themselves in, starting from the death of Sarah’s husband, Kola. This movie is deep, hence here are 8 things they did right that have gotten Nigerians talking;
Costume
For a Nollywood production, the costume was off the chain, it was apt in every scene and for every character. The character of Uduak (Kate Henshaw) literally had the best costume from her first to her last scene. The power look given by the turtle neck yellow lace outfit is worth applauding. Let’s not forget the wedding scene, they were all dressed to the teeth and that set the standard for the entire series.

Makeup

Yes, this gets the movie the hype because Kemi and Sarah looked the part of ‘I’m tired, I have been walking all day, I am trying to save myself from the Police look’. Very apt. Every scene was well ‘touched up’.
Musicality
Music helps to set the mood, arouse emotions, push further the reality of that scene been shown and every scene had a touch of it.
Casting
We can’t say this enough, the casting was on point. Actually, if Ini Adoma-Okojie was to play Kemi, she might not deliver as much as Nancy Isime would but she killed the role of Sarah. Kemi was Sarah’s fire and she kept it burning really well. From Wale Ojo to Joke Silva to Kehinde Bankole to Kate Henshaw; the casting of this movie is top-notch.

Cinematography/Photography
This is another thing they got right in this movie, Blood Sisters. The cinematography was rich enough that you want to watch the next scene and rewatch the previous scene.weekend
Special Effect
The special effect scenes were mind-blowing especially when Princess (Wofai Fada) showed her eye that Kola (Deyemi Okanlawon) blinded, also the scene where Kemi and Sarah were cutting off Kola’s head, it was realistic enough.blood sisters
Setting
The setting of this movie, Blood Sisters adds more thumbs to the numerous ‘thumbs up’ the production has. The setting was very practical, especially the setting of the ‘Good doctor’ who was a harvester of human organs. It made sense for him to live in a secluded place to achieve all that he was doing.
Twist, Turns, And Ending
The unexpected and open ending was not predicted and was very commendable because that last scene can’t have a peaceful ending. Also, the death of Kenny was unexpected, even the inclusion of the ‘Good doctor’. Well done guys.
