70% Of Coronavirus Patients In Nigeria Are Men – Minister Of Health

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, during a press briefing earlier today has disclosed that the significant majority of those with the deadly Coronavirus in the country are men. Osagie Ehanire

Dr Osagie Ehanire said after a breakdown analysis of the infected of the virus in Nigeria it was observed that more men have been infected by the virus as regards to a less rate of infected among women. He said 70% are male, while 30% are females.

He went further to note that the age range of coronavirus cases in Nigeria ranges between 30-60 years, but stressed that both men and women of all ages can be infected and that no one was immune from contracting it. He went further to announce that one of the infected cases in the country was a 6-week-old baby, and that the first death recorded was a 67-year-old man.

The NCDC currently have on record 151 confirmed cases, 9 has fully recovered and has been discharged successfully, while there are only 2 casualties but the minister noted that both of those dead casualty had serious underlying health problems which were aggravated by the Coronavirus infection.

The Minister further explained that well over 2000 people have been tested since the country’s first case in February, also that the country is pulling it’s weight at expanding and improving the diagnostic capacity. Photo Credit: Getty
