Nigerian chef, Hilda Bassey Effiong, popularly known as Hilda Baci has broken the Guinness World Record for longest cooking hours.
Hilda started cooking on Thursday, 12 May, 2023 at 4pm. The chef planned to cook various local and international delicacies.
The world record was formerly held by Indian chef, Lata Tondon but was broken on Monday morning at 7:45 a.m.

Tondon held the record after she cooked for 87 hours, 45 minutes and 00 seconds.
Nigerians have shown Baci unwavering support since she began her quest with more than 20 celebrities paying her visits to encourage her.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has paid the chef a visit to keep encouraging. He was present at the venue when the cooking clocked 69 hours 00 minutes 29 seconds.
Prof Yemi Osinbajo
Nigeria Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo could not make it down to the venue but put a call through to encourage the chef. The number two man was on the phone as at 74 hours 37 minutes 43 seconds into the cook-a-thon.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Senator Godswill Akpabio
Former Akwa Ibom Governor, Godswill Akpabio was also at the venue of the cook-a-thon to show Baci support. Funnily enough, the chef is also from Akwa Ibom State which makes this visit a moral booster. Akpabio was still seen with the chef as at 80 hours 47 minutes 53 seconds.

Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi was also full of praises of the 27-year-old chef for the remarkable feat. Obi took to his Twitter account saying, “The efforts being made by Hilda Effiong Bassey (Hilda Baci) to beat the current Guinness World Record for cooking for 4 days nonstop shows the true Nigerian spirit of hardwork and resilience.”
