Soldiers providing security in Enugu State for the governorship and House of Assembly elections have reportedly arrested 140 thugs with arms and ammunition in the university town of Nsukka in the Nsukka Local Government Area.
Sources told our correspondent that the hoodlums were picked up at about 7:30 am on Saturday at a popular Carolina hotel, Nsukka.

Also, three hoodlums were arrested at the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Nsukka.
According to a security source, the thugs who were fully armed with weapons including AK-47 rifles have confessed to having been deployed by the chairman of the local government, Walter Ozioko.
Meanwhile, efforts to speak to Ozioko were unsuccessful as he could not pick up his call.

In other news, some political thugs have reportedly hijacked and destroyed voting materials meant for wards 2, 3, 4 and 5 in constituency five of the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State for the House of Assembly election.
The governor urged the Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police for Bayelsa State to restore peace in the area.
