20 Feared Dead In Mass Casualty Event As Baltimore Key Bridge Collapse After Cargo Ship Crash – Video

A huge bridge has collapsed into the Patapsco River in Baltimore, after a container ship crashed into the structure in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Authorities have declared a “mass casualty event” with as many as 20 people feared to be in the water and desperate rescue efforts currently under way in a race against the clock.

Terrifying video footage captured the moment the Singapore vessel Dali slammed into the 1.6-mile, four-lane Francis Scott Key Bridge, sending it tumbling into the water.

Multiple cars are thought to have been crossing over the bridge at the time, including one the size of a tractor-trailer.

“Our focus right now is trying to rescue and recover these people,” he said.

According to the Marine Traffic website, the ship was bound for Colombo Port in Sri Lanka at the time.

Baltimore’s mayor wrote on X: “I’m aware of and en route to the incident at the Key Bridge. I have been in contact with [Fire] Chief Wallace, @GovWesMoore@JohnnyOJr, and @AACoExec. Emergency personnel are on scene, and efforts are underway.”
