A 17-year-old girl has reportedly been gang raped by three armed men in Ado-Ekiti while she was street hawking.
The adolescent was said to be selling sachet water and soft drinks at the popular Oja’ba market in Ado-Ekiti where she was victimised.
As reported, she was accosted by three young men while at her trade and taken to a secluded area where they took turns to rape her.
Confirming the case, Ekiti State Government took to its official Twitter handle to note that the State Police commanded has arrested two suspects in connection with the gang rape and the victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment. Read also:Â Tweeps Dig Up Peruzzi’s Tweets On Rape
“Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the gang-rape of a 17-year-old girl. Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu noted that the Command has commenced an investigation into the matter, assuring that the case would be thoroughly prosecuted and ensure justice prevails. The medical bill of the victim was offset by the Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu @bisiafayemi . Erelu Bisi Fayemi, a world-renowned gender activist, is the Chairman of the Ekiti State Gender-Based Violence Management Committee (GBVMC).
